Group 4 Pool Compliance Certificates
October 1st, 2007 brought the enactment of the Health Departments ‘Code of Practice for Aquatic Facilities’. During this time the Royal Life Saving Society released the aquatic facility audits which assist pools which are now capsulated within the new Code.
This program delivers an operational audit to ensure that strata managers and owners meet the new requirements as per the Code of Practice. In particular it provides a compliance style check on specific areas where the facility is in need of repair.
This service is provided on the basis that the facility was correctly approved when installed. If the approval process was not followed correctly then the facility will not currently be approved to operate. As such it will as a minimum need to comply to comply with the superseded Health Regulations (1964) before a permit to operate is issued by the Department of Health.
Several strata managers have already experienced delivery of these letters as there are quite a large number of pools which were never approved for construction by the Department of Health and as such are not authorised to operate.
As an extension of the current audit procedure – which is based on operational issues and assumes construction approval – the society now offers a separate service for unauthorised facilities. The Society will audit all requirements of the facility, including construction and design, and will co-ordinate with remedial services (such as electrical compliance) where required.
