Official Release of ‘Code of Practice’
On October 1st, 2007 the long awaited ‘Code of Practice for the Design, Operation, Management and Maintenance of Aquatic Facilities’ was officially released to the public. The Health (Aquatic Facilities) Regulations, 2007 enforces the Code which covers all aspects of aquatic facilities in Western Australia.
As this major change within the aquatic industry, Royal Life Saving has been working with STIWA to ease the introduction of these regulations. During this time several Strata managers have been pro-active by undertaking audits to ensure their complex’s meet the new regulations. These regulations come into effect immediately with only major structural changes being and new pools being given the leeway of up to 6 months.
Royal Life Saving has provided these audits and relevant recommendations to over 40 facilities in the past six month and to date have found more than 95% of those to be non-compliant as per the Code of Practice.
If you are interested in finding out whether the complex you manage is compliant with the new Health Regulations and being part of our current auditing package, please contact Eddie Gibbs at Royal Life Saving on egibbs@rlsswa.com.au or (08) 9383 8200.
