STIWA press release

Royal Life Saving STIWA Auditing Package

Are the pools in the complexes that you manage compliant with the new Regulations?

In mid 2007 the Health Department will be releasing the new ‘Code of Practice for the Design, Operation, Management and Maintenance of Aquatic Facilities’ which has been developed to ensure that public aquatic facilities are operated to a consistently high standard. Under this Code any pool/ spa in a strata complex consisting of 30 or more units is classified as a Group 4 Public Facility.

To assist STIWA members in preparing for the introduction of the Code, The Royal Life Saving Society has developed a tailored Audit and Improvement Package. This service consists of:

·         A comprehensive audit of your facility to ensure it complies with all relevant regulations  including the Code

·         A detailed report including improvement plan

·         Access to the Society’s ‘Pool Safety’ webpage which provides a comprehensive listing of standards and guidelines; and regular news updates applicable to your facility in a STIWA specific section

·         Improvement services such as the supply and installation of signage and safety equipment required by your facility to comply with the regulations

As part of the Society’s association with STIWA, this service is available at a significantly reduced cost to STIWA members. Special pricing is also available for audit services on facilities with fewer than 30 units to ensure that these facilities comply with industry best practice standards.

For further information on the above services please contact either Peter Leaversuch or Eddie Gibbs from The Royal Life Saving Society on (08) 9383-8200.
